An Intimate Autumn Celebration at Tree Top Escape

A real wedding blog sharing Tamsin and Stephen's intimate autumn celebration at Tree Top Escape in Devon – a relaxed, dog-friendly wedding day surrounded by just 13 loved ones and one very important golden retriever.

When Tamsin and Stephen decided to keep their wedding day small, relaxed, and entirely their own, they found everything they were looking for in the heart of North Devon. Surrounded by just 13 of their closest family and friends — and one very important golden retriever — their 4th October celebration at Tree Top Escape was everything a wedding should be.

A Love Story That Grew Quickly and Beautifully

Tamsin and Stephen first met through work at Stagecoach — a simple introduction that neither could have predicted would lead to a lifetime together. Their friendship moved fast, and before long they both knew they'd found the one.

The next chapter unfolded on Paignton Beach in 2021, when Tamsin proposed to Stephen, deciding she simply couldn't wait any longer to start forever with him. In 2023 they moved into their own home, and the following year welcomed their golden retriever, Moose — who by October 2025 had been given a very important job: ring bearer.

Why They Chose an Intimate Wedding

After attending several large, traditional weddings, Tamsin and Stephen knew that format simply wasn't for them. They wanted a relaxed day surrounded only by the people who truly mattered — and one where Moose would feel right at home.

"It would have been inviting people for the sake of it," they said. "We're so happy we chose to keep it intimate."

Finding the Perfect Venue

Tamsin discovered Tree Top Escape online, and after a string of emails and calls with the team, she knew she'd found their perfect venue. They booked in November 2022 for their 2025 date — and over the three years that followed, their confidence in the choice only grew.

"The place was amazing, but people like Nicola really do make the difference. She's incredible — so attentive, and nothing was ever too much for her."

Stress-Free Planning

With a self-confessed type-A bride at the helm, planning was always going to come with a little stress — but the couple found the whole process smooth, supported, and even enjoyable. Using Tree Top Escape's trusted supplier list made everything that much simpler, and the team were on hand whenever they were needed.

The Wedding Day

The morning began with Tamsin and Stephen getting ready separately in the beautiful bedrooms, before being reunited for their ceremony surrounded by 13 of their closest family and friends — with Moose proudly carrying the rings.

The registrars were "lovely", and once their vows were said, the afternoon was filled with food, games, dancing, and easy, relaxed time with their guests. As the afternoon drew to a close, the couple explored the stunning grounds with photographer Maria Broome, capturing all the dreamy, styled shots they'd hoped for.

The celebrations continued into the evening with private dining in The Nest, followed by cocktails — a peaceful, perfect end to an intimate autumn day.

Moose – Ring Bearer Extraordinaire

For Tamsin, the most special moment of the day was beautifully simple: "Marrying my best friend and having our closest people — and our baby dog — with us." Moose carried the rings with great distinction, and stole more than a few hearts along the way.

A Personal Touch

The couple let their trusted suppliers take the lead on the styling, but added one fun touch of their own — scratch cards as wedding favours. Luck wasn't on anyone's side, but the laughs were well worth it.

Advice from the Newlyweds

"Enjoy every moment — even the stressful bits. The day flies by, so take it all in and treasure the memories."

Tamsin and Stephen's day is a beautiful reminder of what a wedding can be when you strip it back to what really matters. We feel so lucky to have been part of their story, and wish them — and Moose — a very happy future together.
