We’ve put together this helpful guide of motorway stops, as well as a few places not too far off the road where everyone can enjoy a quick break before continuing your journey to Devon.

Gloucester services has a traffic-free dog walking area with a pathway from the car park offering views of the countryside. Dogs must be kept on leads. Dogs are also welcome in the foyer of the main building, with water bowls at the front entrances.

A short 10-minute drive off the motorway to Maunsel Lock, where you can take a gentle stroll along the canal and stop off at the local tea room for refreshments before hoping back in the car.

The Globe Inn – Tiverton

Once you’ve left the m5, this dog-friendly pub overlooks the Grand Western Canal, perfect for one final stretch before the last leg of your journey.
